On November 2nd & 3rd, 2017 the world of culture, philosophy, science, technology and storytelling will collide. Brave New World is an annual conference for professionals coming from science, industry, government and the creative industry, who want to go beyond their own field of interest. People who want to know what the future holds in store and how this will affect our life and work. We want to discuss what social impact new technologies could have on human life, before the innovations are introduced in society.
For example: How far are we willing to go with human enhancement? Does Artificial Intelligence has rights? Is there a future for democracy in this digital age? What do we think of helping nature with artificial evolution?
After a successful first edition, we have another inspiring two days in store with themes like transhumanism, nature and biotechnology, the future of democracy & politics and artificial intelligence. We are honoured to welcome, amongst others, these excellent international experts:
- Malka Older – Author ‘Infomocracy’ (US)
- Marietje Schaake – Member of European Parliament (NL)
- Neil Harbisson & Moon Ribas – Cyborg activists, (UK/SP)
- Peter Greenaway – Film director, screenwriter & artist (UK)
- Angelo Vermeulen – Space systems researcher & biologist (BE)
- Luciano Floridi – Professor of Philosophy & Ethics of Information (IT)
Brave New World is meant for professionals coming from science, industry, government and the creative industry. Together we want to discuss what ethical and societal impact new technologies could have on human life, before the innovations are introduced in society.
Are you prepared for a Brave New World? Do you want to witness two days of mind-bending presentations, take part in discussions, meet peers from different sectors and co-create new views on life, society, policy and government? This is your chance.
